I visited the Ocean Coral and Turquesa Resort in Puerto Moreles, Mexico from June 12-18, 2009. I traveled with 2 teenage girls and had a very relaxing time. We were upgraded to a Privilege room on the third floor with a beautiful ocean view. Many of the rooms on the first and second floors have their views blocked by foliage. The Privilege section also provided guests with a private Lounge
with free WiFi, 2 computers for your use, Premium alcohol and a cook to order breakfast.
There were 4 pools including a Kiddie Pool which was right next to the Daisy Club. The Swim Up Bar Pool was always crowded and loud with music and entertainment. We preferred the beach area which had nice white sand, no rocks but did have a lot of seaweed which was cleaned up twice a day by a tractor. There were always plenty of lounges available but the bar service was very scarce even when you tipped.
We ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch everyday and the food was adequate with not much variety. In the evening we enjoyed dinner at the Italian, Mexican, Japanese and the Sports Bar Restaurants. Again the food was adequate but the
service was extremely poor at all of them. They all appeared to be way understaffed.
The room was very large and modern with 2 double beds, pullout sofa and a very nice verandah. The room was always cool and comfortable and did not have a musty odor that I have experienced in other properties in Mexico. Maid service
was late the first few days (after 4 pm) but was better after the weekend.
The entertainment was next to nothing in the evening. There was a violin player in the lobby but nothing else going on for the younger people. We did take an excursion to Wet and Wild where the girls swam with the Dolphins.
This trip was booked thru NW Worldvacations who had a desk at the resort and there seemed to be a representative there all the time. This is not the fanciest or liveliest resort in Riviera Maya but it is a good value for people looking for a laid back vacation that is close to the Cancun airport.
