LOCAL TRAVEL AGENCY OWNER TO SERVE ON NATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF ASTA

Grand Rapids, MI June 12, 2008 - John Lovell, CTC, President of Breton Village Travel Services in Grand Rapids Michigan, and President of the Michigan Chapter of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) has been elected to serve on the National Board of Directors of the American Society of Travel Agents. 

Election took place on June 7, 2008.  Only three of the thirty one chapter presidents serve as directors on the fourteen member national board.  Elected by associate chapter presidents, Mr. Lovell will serve a two year term.

ASTA’s Michigan Chapter Elects New President

Grand Rapids, MI - Grand Rapids businessman, John I. Lovell, CTC is named President of the American Society of Travel Agents’ (ASTA) Michigan Chapter.  Founded in 1931, ASTA and its affiliates now comprise the world's largest and most influential travel trade association with members in 140 countries.  ASTA’s 20,000-plus members include travel agents and the companies whose products they sell such as tours, cruises, hotels, car rentals, etc.  ASTA is the leading advocate for travel agents, the travel industry and the traveling public.

John I. Lovell, President of Breton Village Travel Services, has been in the travel industry his entire life. Lovell is a strong proponent of ASTA’s mission to facilitate the business of selling travel through effective representation, shared knowledge and the enhancement of professionalism.  Breton Village Travel Services’ motto, “Good Advice… Memorable Vacations” embodies the ASTA objectives.  Lovell, who has served as Michigan ASTA President in the past, is fond of quoting the slogan, "Without an ASTA travel agent, you're on your own.”

The newly elected President Lovell will assume office at the close of ASTA’s national  convention, THETRADESHOW,  in Las Vegas on September 11, 2007.
